Another Royal Wedding ?

Our new boar has arrived, he is a year old Gloucester Old Spot. Named William, his brother is Harry, all we need now is a gilt called Kate. Our own Oxford Sandy and Black gilt, Bonita, has not shown much interest in him yet, we think she is playing hard to get. Hopefully they will get together in a few weeks and produce us our first Wood Fen Lodge weaners. The New Arrivals

We have some new lodgers at Wood Fen Lodge, three Gloucester Old Spot weaners (they are here for a Spa Weekend ). They are about 14 weeks old and very inquisitive, we have them in a small pen to allow them to get to know their new home before we introduce them to the larger pen and elecric fence, a few squeals to come as they find thier way around. The Comfrey Has Arrived

Our good friend and fellow smallholder Glen has very kindly donated three rows of comfrey plants for the cause. They are in where the weaners were last year so we hope for a good crop this summer, well fertilised. Comfrey is an ideal feed for our animals, full of natural goodness, this will see us through to the autumn when we crop the mangolds and later on sugar beet. Share this

Helpful Cat

Yvonne has a helper today (not). Mr Diamond was lounging in the poly tunnel when she planted up the seed trays for hanging basket and vegetables for the Spa day lunches. We try to grow as much of our own produce as possible, Yoga retreat weekenders enjoy vegetarian fare most of which we produce. Share this
