Here at Wood Fen Lodge we will be actively lending our support to John Creek aka Fatboy. John is planning to swim the Channel in August to raise money for Molly who has PHACE Syndrome, the target is £5000. With the help of our visitors to the Guest House and Spa Centre we will be promoting Johns web site www.fatboy-swim.org.uk please follow the link and add your support and if possible a donation, if you could Tweet the link and post on Face Book that would be great. Yoga Weekend at Wood Fen Lodge

Last weekend we held our September Yoga Weekend at Wood Fen Lodge Spa Centre and Guest House.

Another one is due in November, we will shortly be releasing dates for next year see the Yoga Page.

Two members of the group run a charity called Hi’s ‘n’ Lows providing support for adults with drug or alcohol problems and the homeless, they are in the running for funding from the NatWest Communityforce project

Our Handfasting Day at Wood Fen Lodge

The day started cloudy but as we sat on the cart waiting to follow the Littleport Riot to the Henge the sun came out and blessed us for the rest of the day.

Mary Hannigan started the proceedings by singing a Celtic song Eamonn an Chnoic from the far side of the lake then off we went.

Our 200 guests followed on and formed a circle around us.

The quarters were called and Paul started the ceremony, once our hands were tied, with rings and vows exchanged we jumped the broomstick symbolising the start of our new life together.

The afternoon was taken up with games and entertainment before sitting down to the feast. Johnny the Jester finished off his entertainment with the Walk Of Death but it did not go as planned, have a look at the video it is fantastic!

: The veg has been dug

Two days to go at Wood Fen Lodge Spa Centre and Guest House Ely. The handfasting is hapening this weekend, our friends have been busy collecting foliage to decorate the marquee, this has been placed around the edge of the lake so it stays fresh. The meat for the feast is now all cooked and in the chiller. The beer has arrived but not the tent so it will have to sit outside tonight, we have covered it in sacking so it can be watered to keep cool. In the morning the other tents should arrive and we will be set for the big day.

Nearly Done

The Roof Is On

The tent has arrived ready for our guests to enjoy a medieval feast at our handfasting on Saturday. The henge is finished and the grass has been cut. In the morning the catering equipment will arrive then the roasting will begin. Our good friend Ron has been to collect the lamb that will be the centre of the feast. As we post, duck , pheasant, partridge and rabbit are cooked and in the chiller. Yvonne has been busy in the kitchen today. Such a woman I could marry her.

Less Than A Week To Go

It’s less than a week now before our Handfasting at Wood Fen Lodge, Guest House and Spa Centre Ely.

The Henge is now finished, we have wind chimes in the East, a fire basket in the South, waterfall in the West and the green man of the wood in the North, you can see the photo’s below, you can click them to enlarge them.

The sheep have gone ready for the feast, vegetables in the garden will be soon be harvested…

The marquee arrives on Wednesday with the catering equipment coming Thursday…..

Sheep Shearing at WFL Spa Center

Busy weekend at Wood Fen Lodge as well as lots of guests in the Spa Center and Guest House we have Lisa and Harry here to shear the sheep. The fleeces will be used at our Handfasting later in the year so guests can try their hand at weaving. The sheep were not too impressed, once sheared they did not recognise each other so started butting and fighting, soon settled with a bucket of nuts.

We are busy here at Wood Fen Lodge Spa Ely and Guest House getting the plants ready for the beddings and hanging baskets, guests to the Spa Centre can enjoy the wonderful suroundings whilst relaxing in the hot tub and spa enjoying the peace of the fenland countryside with an ice cold glass of pimms. Wood Fen Lodge Spa a jewel in Ely’s crown.

The Folly Is Finished

The Folly at Wood Fen Lodge is finished at last, it has been a fiddly job cutting the mini bricks and stone, the arches were garden mirrors made without the glass. Guests can now enjoy relaxing by the lake during a spa or yoga weekend, the sound of the waterfall takes you to a place of tranquility. Next up we are working on a reflexology path, as you walk along the pebbles change in size to massage your feet and stimulate your whole body.
